Longstanding Key Biscayne Cuban eatery Oasis Cafe suffered what they called “extensive damage” to the space after an electrical fire took place in the wee hours of Monday morning. According to the Miami Herald, the accidental fire began shortly after midnight and quickly spread, but no one was in the restaurant or hurt.
But in a twist of luck, the restaurant that has been on Key Biscayne since the 1960s was finalizing a new space adjacent to the fire affected restaurant that is scheduled to open this Friday — and has been in the works for years now.
The new modern, air conditioned, enclosed addition to Oasis Cafe is structurally separate and didn’t suffer any fire damage. The new space was slated to originally open on Friday, but the team took to Facebook saying they could be opening that new space as early as today. Stay tuned for more updates.
