After months of anticipation, Kiki on the River (450 NW North River Drive) officially opens the doors to the public today. The Miami River located eatery is the brainchild of nightlife pro Roman Jones, former Philippe Chow Miami managing partner, Aris Nanos, hospitality executive Lee Lyon and creative director, Ghosthouse Creative Group’s Mark Lehmkuhl who conceptualized the space with Jay Wall of Thirlwall Design, the same guy who designed spots like Libertine and Baby Jane.
The funky decor is described as "where the Mediterranean meets the Miami River,” featuring several different areas. The outdoor terrace is filled with vines and Bougainvillea, white washed walls and Miami River views. Inside, the colorful space features ceiling to floor windows, leather chesterfield sofas, vintage lounge chairs, seashell chandeliers and Ikat patterned stools amongst other eclectic details.
Overseeing the kitchen is executive chef Steve Rhee, who opened Estiatorio Milos in Miami Beach in addition to serving as sous chef at Estiatorio Milos in Las Vegas. His menu features a variety of classic Mediterranean dishes like charred octopus, grilled whole Mediterranean sea bass, lamb chops, roasted half chicken and lobster-filled pasta and more.
The restaurant is now open daily for lunch with dinner service coming in the following weeks. Call 786-735-3322 for more information.
