According to The Miami Herald, last night during the Heat Game, the deck at Shuckers Bar & Grill collapsed over Biscayne Bay, "spilling dozens of terrified patrons into the water". Apparently, "at least two dozen" were injured ("two of them in serious condition") and sent off to "various hospitals". Miami Dade Fire Rescue Captain Eugene Germain Jr. reports that "100 people were on the deck when it fell into the water".
Following the collapse, bartenders dove into the Bay (which is 5 ft. below the deck) to help those who had fallen. To make matters worse, the power at Shuckers went out right after the accident, leaving everyone in the dark. According to a witness it took about ten minutes for police and fire-rescue to arrive, but until then bystanders were very helpful. Germain says, "we have located and we're in the process of treating approximately 24 victims".
