Although he usually rolls with Oprah and Obama (fans of Top Chef Masters will recall him seasoning his sentences with those names on a frequent basis), Chicago chef Art Smith was in Miami with Michelle Bernstein Sunday night, hosting a private dinner at Adrienne Arsht's crib in honor of his non-profit organization Common Threads. The charity teaches low income children to cook wholesome and affordable meals in an effort to prevent childhood obesity. Children from William Jennings Bryan Elementary prepped and served the three course meal with Bernstein and her staff. Common Threads currently provides two Miami programs but will add another in January 2010 with Amigos For Kids in Little Havana. Sounds swell, but is it us or does Smith seem to be scowling in this picture?
