Helping Haiti

Yesterday we told you about Michelle Bernstein's desires to rally the city's restaurants to help Haiti by offering diners the option of tacking on an extra buck to their bills to go to relief efforts. Today we were contacted by SushiSamba, who tells us that yesterday they rolled out a similar initiative in which customers can donate $1 or more on their checks which goes directly to the American Red Cross. Says a publicist, "We have a number of restaurants already signing up for the program . . . Wanted to make sure you were aware that other South Florida restaurants are planning initiatives for the cause." Indeed. But instead of making this a Tupac/Biggie, East Coast/West Coast, South Beach/Mainland thing, maybe everyone can do this together? [EaterWire]
