Florida Trend's Golden Spoon Awards

Florida Trend has announced winners of their annual Golden Spoon Awards and many are located right here in the 305: Bizcaya at the Ritz-Carlton, Coconut Grove which "puts the Ritz into hotel dining with Spanish accent and the luxury of old world service;" Ortanique on the Mile, which is "Rare and tropical as its namesake fruit, bright as Cindy Hutson’s pink bandana, slick as the Miracle Mile;" Pascal's on Ponce, where chef/owner "Pascal Oudin fills tatins, terrines and souffles with tomatoes, pears and modern style;" Area 31, for "Breathtaking views for 16th-floor power meals downtown with meats and fish grilled four ways;" Azul, which "has been the perfection of luxury at the Mandarin Oriental since 2000."

Michael's Genuine Food & Drink, where "Urban pioneers feast on deviled eggs, wood-roasted okra and chargrilled octopus;" Michy's, where "La reina Michelle Bernstein reigns on a funky corner with eye-popping decor and her hip signature delicacies;" Two Chefs, where "Jan Jorgenson is the venerable dean of culinary Miami, now with two more smart chefs redefining classics;" Casa Tua, a "Sensuous villa overflowing with flowers hidden in the heart of South Beach;" Ola, where "Latin innovator Doug Rodriguez [is] at his best;" Quattro, where "twin chefs Fabrizio and Nicola Carro do humble scaloppine, lentils and lasagne proud;" Sardinia, for "lusty Sardinian home cooking;" Wish, where "Food is sexy and sleek;" NAOE, whose "17 seats are the toughest in Miami to get;" and Timo, the "Coolest spot on the far north beach and the warmest."

And last, but not least, a "special award," for "New Luster" goes to The Forge, where "hot shots still come but so can “the little people’’ who love the lusty, witty food of Dewey LoSasso and the spirited hospitality of Shareef Malnik." [Florida Trend]
