Status: Opening February 18, 72nd Bar + Grill is the latest from husband and wife chefs Juan and Vani Maza, who sold their previous restaurant Alta Cocina in January. The indoor/outdoor neighborhood bar and grill features a contemporary American menu with dishes including flatbread pizzas like the Madrid –roasted piquillo peppers, jamon serrano, Manchego cheese and truffle oil; and burgers such as the Asian Piggie – barbeque pulled pork, Napa slaw and apple chutney. Fish and meat dishes include locally caught snapper in Thai coconut broth with steamed bok choy; New Zealand rack of lamb with wild mushroom fregola and demi glace; and burgundy braised short ribs served with sweet potato puree and coleslaw. A shake bar in addition to full bar, will offer regular and grown-up shakes such as the Bailey’s mint chocolate speckled milkshake.The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.; and 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sundays.[EaterWire]
