On Tuesday, March 30, Barú Urbano will host an event to benefit the non-profit aid organization Wine To Water, started by a bartender in 2003 to raise awareness and funds to provide clean drinking water to people worldwide. A $10 suggested donation at the door includes a glass of wine. Doors open at 7 p.m. This is the first of many fundraisers for the organization. Juan Carlos Pardo, the restaurant's co-owner, says he wanted to get involved when he saw founder Wine to Water founder Doc Hendley's story on CNN and contacted him shortly after to find out how to help. Barú Urbano intends to raise enough money to contribute two wells by end of Summer 2010, so start drinking. [EaterWire]
