As part of National Ice Cream Month, which kicks off today, Area 31's John Critchley has created two special "Scoop for Success" ice cream desserts, from which $1 of each will be donated to Dress for Success, the non profit organization devoted to helping women reenter the workforce. Critchley's creations are: Peach Bombe--Georgia peach sherbet with brown butter almond ice cream, coffee butter crumbs and cinnamon ice cream; and The Melon--compressed melons, ras el hanout ice cream, mint ice cream and local honeycomb. As part of the promotion, Area 31 and EPIC will host an Ice Cream Social from 5-7pm Thursday, July 15, where proceeds from $3-$5 scoops of housemade ice cream will go directly to the charity and Exhale Spa will offer free mini-manicures in sorbet shades. Ronnie (and Nancy) Reagan would be proud. [EaterWire]
