As we reported back in March, South Beach and New York Wine & Food Festival macher Lee Schrager hasn't only been busy planning a fest or two (or, as we hear, perhaps three or four) and a 10 year South Beach anniversary party and book, The Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival Cookbook: Recipes and Behind-the-Scenes Stories From America's Hottest Chefs, in between jet setting, fine dining, his day job as VP of Public Communication for Southern Wine and Spirits---and Tweeting all about it. He's also been conspiring with Barneys New York's creative director Simon Doonan for this year's Foodie Holiday windows theme.
Although Schrager's been as tight lipped as the winner of Top Chef D.C., we were tipped off by a culinary chatterbox who yapped that the coveted letter went out today inviting a very select list of chefs to be featured as caricatures in the windows, debuting in NYC on November 16, which will also double as the date of the 'fest's book launch party. "The food world is buzzing on who is included, and word is that the list of invitees was cut and cut and cut," says our source. As for which chefs landed on the chopping board, we'll just have to wait and see because Schrager, a man all about timing, was conveniently unavailable for comment, somewhere in Africa on safari.
