Nicolás Hoyos is capitalizing on the success of his first Barú Urbano with the planned opening of a second, and even bigger restaurant. This one is set to open Friday in Doral. There’s a launch party there on Thursday night for Johnny Walker Double Black. The new 7,500-square-foot restaurant is twice the size of his Brickell location with a big outdoor terrace. Like the first, the design features contemporary street art and a menu that fuses Latin and Mediterranean dishes. Executive Chef Luis Garcia is overseeing what Hoyos says will be true “Miami style” cuisine. The menu features arepas, ceviche, various pastas, seafood and steak. Mixologist Arturo Sighinolfi is creating fresh local fruit custom cocktails. The urban rustic décor features Latin American street art by Andrés Rísquez, Kevin Marcell and Sergio Barrios.
