Status: Slated to open in December, Mare Nostrum is an 8,000 square foot modern Med restaurant with an emphasis on seafood. Chef is Pedro Gallardo, executive chef at the InterContinental Hotel La Torre in southern Spain. Also on the menu will be pastas, pizzas, risottos and other Mediterranean-inspired items. An 11-foot tall glass wine room will house over 2,000 bottles and a 25' long seafood/raw bar will offer all sorts of fresh sea fare on ice.
And, in a true Miami-style juxtaposition of mismatched cultures, opening at the same address is the two-story The Lucky Clover Irish Pub, "a bustling restaurant and bar that will deliver the true Irish tradition of great food and lively entertainment," featuring casual fare, flat screen TVs and stage. Both belong to Polaris World Development; a Spanish company which owns golf resorts, restaurants and hotels in Europe and has real estate holdings and design/furniture studios Baltus Collection and Yedra in the U.S. [EaterWire]
