Quickfire Q & A With Top Chef's Miami Contestant Berenice deAraujoon

Top Chef Texas premieres Wednesday and in advance of that, we asked Sra. Martinez chef turned cheftestant Berenice deAraujoon what made her want to be on the show, if boss and erstwhile guest judge Michelle Bernstein gave her any tips and, if she's allowed, to sum up her experience on the show. Here are her replies:
1. I'm a huge fan of the show.
2. Michelle gave me advice as a mentor and friend, not as a previous judge. In the years that she has been judging, I have never asked questions nor has she offered any scoop. She told me to be myself, and to cook my heart out.
3. I didn't know what to expect. I knew I was going into a heavy competition with many talented chefs. When you here where all these amazing people work, it really blows you away. It's a difficult challenge on every level. [EaterWire]
