Status: Sonic fans rejoice! The long-anticipated – as in two years – opening of Sonic Beach is finally happening tomorrow in Fort Lauderdale. Famous for its Cherry Limeades and foot-long quarter pound Coneys, the newest location isn’t your traditional Sonic American drive-in with its skating-up-to-your- window carhops. This one is located on the second floor at the Gallery at Beach Place. But, customers still will be served by skating waitresses and waiters. The views of the beach through the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling windows are incredible. The restaurant features a large bar, and yes, it will serve 28 kinds of beer, along with several white and red wine selections and a little of the bubbly.
