Smashburger Opening in Coral Springs

Some burger joints pride themselves on their secret sauce, others on their secret recipe. Colorado-based Smashburger’s secret is in, well, the smash. And now, on November 15, South Floridians will be able to get in on the smash-to-order frenzy at the first So Flo Smashburger, debuting in Coral Springs and eventually expanding to Kendall and Miami. The secret, they say, is to start with 100 percent fresh, never frozen certified Angus Beef and then – you got it – smash it on a 400-degree flat grill, which, we are told, sears in the juices. And, about that secret sauce, they have that too. In fact, there are nine signature sauces, along with a whole lot of add-ons including mango and papaya salsa, a fried egg, guacamole, and Spanish chorizo. To celebrate the grand opening, Sef “Burger Beast” Gonzalez will be performing the ceremonial first “smash” (a tradition that occurs at every Smashburger) on November 14 at 4:30 p.m.---Lily Rano [EaterWire]
