Last night at the Burger Bash — or officially the Amstel Light Burger Bash presented by Allen Brothers hosted by Rachael Ray at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival — Iron Chef star Michael Symon (B Spot, Ohio) won big. He defeated 26 competitors — including Michael White, Bobby Flay, Masaharu Morimoto, Laurent Tourondel, Spike Mendelsohn, and Jose Garces — and took home the coveted People's Choice Award for a second year in a row.
Besides the winners, a few more observations were made. Among them: 1. It was crowded. No, it was mobbed. More mobbed than ever, or perhaps the people were just larger? 2. People like burgers. Like, they really, really, really, like burgers. So much so that if the Burger Bash was on the Titanic, they'd be right there with the band, not playing, of course, but stuffing their faces with burgers while the ship was en route to its icy demise. Just ask Burger Beast, whose gonzo coverage of the event, we highly recommend, though not on an empty stomach.
