While food trucks are as ubiquitous as P. Diddy/Diddy/Puffy/Whateverhisnameis, pop up restaurants are more along the lines of the legendary Pink Floyd recluse Syd Barrett, and, while Barrett really is dead, the pop up may be sporadic, but it's not dead. To prove that, Will Goldfarb, formerly of New York City's Room 4 Dessert and founder of Picnick, a sustainable green sandwich concept located in NYC, food trailer, ‘Picnick, smoked’; Willpowder, an online specialty pastry product company, Willequipped, a selection of hard to find tools for chefs and (whew) Executive Pastry Chef at Ku De Ta Hotel and Resort in Bali, will be coming to Miami for one night only on April 2 to present a six course tasting menu at Blooming Design and Events, 244 NW 35th St. What's the occasion? Goldfarb's in the US for the Experimental Cuisine Collective at NYU on March 23rd to conduct a symposium with Ferran Adria, Lisa Abend, Dave Arnold, Jeffrey Rosengarten. Oh, and Willpowder's located here.
The self professed "outlaw of pastry" will present his own sweet creations while chefs Kurtis Jantz (Trump International Hotel), Jeremiah Bullfrog (Gastropod), and Alberto Cabrera (Himmarshee Bar & Grill and The Local) will provide the savory stuff along with and paired wines, all for $75 per person. There are two seatings: for reservations at the 8 p.m., click here, for 10 p.m., click here. [EaterWire]
