Rosa Mexicano's Lincoln Road opening, says Lee Klein, was met with "muted" expectations. That said, "Surprise, surprise: The cuisine boasts clean, strong, sharply defined flavors; the service staff works with relay-team efficiency, and a festive ambiance prevails." Bottom line: "It's that accommodating spirit, along with very tasty fare, that makes Rosa Mexicano an unexpected Mexican treat." [MNT]
Jodi Mailander Farrell reviews Peacock Garden Cafe, which has some local history which, she says is unfortunately "more interesting than the menu." Ambience is "Nantucket South." What worked on that not-so-interesting menu? A few salads, cream of mushroom soup, basil lemonade and white sangria. What didn't work? "Bland" chicken breast, "dry" yellowfin tuna, "overcooked" skirt steak, "thin and soupy" fresh fish casserole, "overly eager, young wait staff," and "cold, cavernous" interior. Bottom line: 2 stars.
