Philippe South Beach Goin' South (And North)

New, 1 comment

Photos: Ethan Gordon Philippe by Philippe Chow at the Gansevoort is closed, but contrary to its sign, it's not for renovations. As we reported last month, it's not over for the chichi Chinese spot that was the Hatfield to neighboring Mr Chow's McCoy. According to sources, the lease has been signed for Philippe to take over the Taverna Opa space South of Fifth.

As for the Boca branch, according to Boca Magazine, it will be a more casual version and will debut the third week of August in the old III Forks space at 200 E. Palmetto Park Rd. where owner Stratis Morfogen believes it will fill the void felt by the “affluent, well-traveled” Boca diners he says have been previously “underserved” in terms of overprice--er, fine Chinese chow.
