Wanna open your own store but just don't have the financial resources to do so in this abysmal (but somehow, if you believe the cheerleaders, "improving") economy? The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority is throwing "The Great Shop Showdown," in which new and established retailers can win a year of free rent and "invaluable business development assistance" in the form of grants, incentives and free marketing services. The winner's space is at 218 Clematis Street. To enter, submit a 30 to 60 second video on the contest's Facebook page by July 31.
