Jax's Salt Life Food Shack Is Heading South

Seafood lovers rejoice, a bit of the salty life is coming. The one and only Salt Life Food Shack in Jacksonville is spreading its "eat, drink and be salty" philosophy to South Florida. Owner Greg Saig and his partners have signed a development deal to open several Food Shacks from Miami to Stuart. The first is slated to open early next year in The Walk of Coral Springs on University Drive, a popular retail and dining destination. It will join other restaurants including Gold Coast Grill, Mythos Greek Taverna and Peking Tokyo.

Though mostly seafood, the menu also features salads, burgers and chicken. There’s also a raw bar and sushi bar. It’s the kind of a place you can go for a business lunch or just stop by in your flip-flops and cut-offs. Prices range from $6 to $18. Saig said what makes his restaurant different is that he started with the existing Salt Life Inc. brand, which you can find on everything from stickers to T-shirts, and built his restaurant concept around it.---Lily Rano [EaterWire]
