Whale Raw Bar & Fish House Ready For Its Close-Up

Telephone: 954-345-9190
Status: Regulars to the Whale Raw Bar & Fish House in Parkland may have noticed that the giant fish that once greeted them head on has been moved, there’s fresh paint on the walls, and new red-hot seating. It’s all part of a $10,000 face-lift that owner Danielle Williams has been working on for the last six months. Williams, who also owns Oceans 234 in Deerfield Beach, said they only had to close the restaurant for a day-and-a-half to get the bulk of the new look completed. On Sept. 15, the restaurant will host a grand re-opening party and in addition to the new décor, unveil a new menu. Williams called the old menu “large and redundant.”

The new menu, executed by Chef Victor Franco, includes such appetizers as Bahamian Scallops with sweet potato mash drizzled in vanilla rum-butter sauce and Williams’ personal favorite, Spicy Tuna Lettuce Wraps featuring finely diced premium sushi grade tuna tartare blended with olive oil and spicy peanut sauce on the side. There are several new salads including one made with bed of crisp romaine lettuce fresh tomatoes, red onion and sprinkled with crumbled Gorgonzola with a Balsamic dressing. Sandwiches include chicken Philly cheese steak with sautéed onions smothered in melted provolone cheese.

Opening night is open to the public and will kick off with an open bar from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and live music in the restaurant’s courtyard. Free samplings of the new menu will be passed and giveaways will be handed out throughout the night. It also will feature a charity raffle to benefit Boca Helping Hands.---Lily Rano [EaterWire]
