A brand spankin' new addition to the SoFi (South of Fifth) neighborhood, The Local House soft-opened its doors last week at The Sense Beach House on Ocean Drive and will be officially open December 4. The restaurant and hotel both have that laid back, breezy beach house feel, a bit like the members-only Soho Beach House further up the beach. Step into the comfort of their home and enjoy fresh, local (hence the name) fare either indoors or outside. Claimed to be an "eclectic fusion of international cuisine", the raw bar and grill offers lunch, dinner, and brunch. Small plates include Buffalo Sweet & Sour Pork Wings, Miso Escolar, Goat Cheese Croquettes, and Stuffed Dates (hmm, sounds vaguely familiar to another small plates place in Midtown). There's a full raw bar, and dinner entrees include Corn Shrimp Porridge and Black Seafood Risotto. They have brunch seven days a week, putting a spin on items like a fritatta and Ocean Benedict. All this can be ordered and enjoyed poolside at The Sense Beach House's rooftop pool, along with cocktails, wine, and beer.
