Can You Make a Mean Matzah Ball?

As part of the Forest Trace Third Annual Golden Matzah Bowl on March 22 in which they crown the king or queen of the matzah ball, this community, modeled after the Catskill’s Grossinger’s Hotel, is sponsoring two contests for the public-just in time for Passover. One asks readers to vote for their favorite boxed mix (Streit’s, Manischewitz or other) on the Forest Trace Facebook page from March 6-15. Judges will select a winner from the voting pool each day and the winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Target or Publix (winner’s choice). The second contest has higher stakes. Email your personal matzah ball recipe here and two winners, Best Recipe from Scratch and Best Out of the Box, will receive a $180 donation to the charity of their choice. As Marilyn Monroe once said, "Isn't there any other part of the matzo you can eat?" Matzah, matzo, potato, po-tah-to, whatever it is, have a ball. [EaterWire]
