Though its doors have been open since September, Luca Bella is just getting around to announcing its “official” grand opening. In the restaurant world, which is much like a chessboard where one moves out and another moves in, Luca Bella replaced what once was Chef Allen’s. The family-style Italian restaurant is the brainchild of Mickey Maltese, former owner of Matteo’s Italian Restaurant in Hallandale Beach. The menu features comfort food with main courses served to share such as meat lasagna, baked ziti with ricotta and Mickey’s "famous" meatballs – just like mama used to make. It’s open for lunch and dinner during the week and just for dinner on the weekends.---Lily Rano [EaterWire]
