The South Rises Again at Brother Jimmy's in June

Miami is having quite the Southern renaissance. Following Yardbird and Swine, now Brother Jimmy's coming to town. Serving barbecue in New York City long before Danny Meyer thought of Blue Smoke, Brother Jimmy's has established seven locations since 1989, with five throughout NYC. The new location in The Shops at Mary Brickell Village will continue the BJ's mission to "Put Some South in Yo' Mouth" by serving traditional barbecue cooked on their hickory smokers paired with Southern staples like fried okra and black eyed peas with bacon. Miami's menu will feature all the classics along with some new items, like blackened grouper, specialized for South Florida. But the menu will be meat-centric because, as Brother Jimmy's founder James Goldman told Short Order, "Miami women love their meat".

Brother Jimmy's is set to open in Mary Brickell Village in Mid-June, in plenty of time for a July 4th celebration. The new restaurant will feature 250 seats and a surplus of TVs, perfect for watching the South's new favorite pastime, college football.
