Menu Details Emerge for TIKL, Opening in Late July

Construction rolls on for TIKL Raw Bar & Grill, the small plates concept from the team behind Brickell's Altamare, with plans to open at 1450 Brickell Avenue in late July. The Aussie chef Simon Stojanovic, known for his work with seafood, is in the process of developing the eatery's eclectic menu with a focus on seasonality and global cuisines. Stojanovic told Short Order "I'm just going to cook whatever I feel like cooking, so food could be inspired by Japanese cooking, or Vietnam, or the Middle East, home or Italy." The menu, designed for sharing, is mostly priced under $20 with dishes varying in size and title - snacks, raw, small, double-robata grilled, and large.

With Stojanovic's desire to have "an element of surprise in play", menu notables include a Hamachi crudo with yuzu, olive oil powder, wasabi and scallion, crispy snapper wings with a Vietnamese bok choy salad and a warm veal rillet with a slow-poached duck egg, pickled horseradish, and toast. Pastry chef Michelle Cabrera, also a Altamare vet, is in charge of the sweets, such as robata grilled peaches and a red velvet lamington. TIKL will open in late July with lunch and dinner service Monday through Saturday, remaining open past midnight with the last seating at 1 a.m.
