After 19 years serving South Beach, David's Cafe II, the popular 24 hour casual Cuban eatery, is being forced to leave Lincoln road due to an increase in rent. Adrian Gonzalez, owner of David's Cafe II, explained to Miami.com that they were "trying to work with them (building owner) to see what we can do but they want what they consider fair market value." While their exit from South Beach will not be certain until their lease is up at the end of July, Gonzalez is exploring other options - a more affordable space, maybe a smaller space, or just "regroup down to the original David's", open for 35 years on Collins avenue. Hopefully this is not the end for David's II and that there is still room for some of the mom and pop shops of Miami on the brand popular South Beach.
