Rem Koolhaas' Mystery Design; Tom Wolfe Does Miami

All the latest neighborhood and real estate news from Curbed Miami...

51kGQLQ9bnL._SS500_.jpg MIAMI BEACH - The postwar modern Saxony Hotel, of would-be Cipriani branding (a plan that flopped in the Great Recession), is the site of two iconic new buildings being designed by such high-name starchitects that both of these men, Rem Koolhaas, and Lord Norman Foster, are landmarks themselves. We dug up renderings (sadly Lo-Res) of the still mysterious Koolhaas design.

MIDTOWN - The big, blank lawn in the center of Midtown is ambiguously right in front of you while nearly anywhere in Midtown, but it has an uncertain future, and is technically off limits to would-be park-goers intent on throwing a frisbee or acting in any way like they have a "village green" in their midst.

ALL OVER MIAMI - Tom Wolfe, author of the New York drama and social commentary "Bonfire of the Vanities" is doing the same thing for Miami with his upcoming book "Back to Blood." Oh, and the Miami Herald journalist who showed him around town did a 'making-of documentary of the iconic author's Miami adventures.
