The Federalists Tackle Baked Goods at ACME

New, 2 comments

The threesome behind The Federal and Phuc Yea! - Alejandro Ortiz, Aniece Meinhold and Cesar Zapata - are set to open an artisanal bakery and cafe, ACME Bakery and Coffee, in Midtown. "More reminiscent of an ‘old time general store’ counter than the conventional refrigerated display", ACME will serve up cakes, pastries, tarts, home-made candies and breads with such early items including pecan sticky-buns, meyer-lemon tarts and bundt cakes. Along with the takeaway goods, the cafe has room for 40 to 60 seats, serving up a limited array of dishes for breakfast, lunch and "early evening" tea. ACME is look at a mid-to-late September opening.

With their new venture, the trio have formed a restaurant group, the Pious Pig.

UPDATE: Cindy Kruse will no longer be involved with the new ACME project.
