Last night's Chefs for Obama fundraiser hosted a slew of Miami's best chefs. A nation-wide fundraising effort in cities across the U.S., the event offered general admission and VIP tickets where chefs served delectable eats, jazz artists and DJs provided tunes, and there was even a pop-up fashion boutique with clothes for humans and dogs designed by big fashion names like Nanette Lepore. But let's cut to the juicy goodness. Some of the who's who of Miami's top restaurants attended and graced the Moore Building with their culinary expertise such as: Timon Balloo of SUGARCANE Raw Bar & Grill, Michael Schwartz and Hedy Goldsmith of Michael's Genuine Food & Drink, Cindy Hutson of Ortanique on the Mile, Richard Leroy Ingraham of chateau Dwayne Wade (aka his personal chef), Jouvens Jean of the St. Regis Bal Harbor, and Aaron Taylor of STK Miami, to name a few. And for those lucky enough to have attended, there was also an opportunity to get a sneak eat from two chefs opening restaurants this fall: Dena Marino of MC Kitchen to open in the Design District and Kris Wessel of soon-to-hit-the-beach Florida Cookery. It must have been hard to talk politics in a room full of stellar chefs and great eats.
