Florida Cookery's Kris Wessel has left the restaurant "to pursue other career avenues".
According to Short Order, the chef has decided to open up his own restaurant group called Consume Restaurant Group and is currently "looking to open dining concepts" in Miami and New Orleans.
The blog also notes that Wessel's one-year contract with the James Royal Palm restaurant "has ended", but the chef seems to remain on good terms with Florida Cookery saying in a statement, "I wish the James and Florida Cookery much success in sustaining their beautiful property in Miami Beach." No word yet on who will replace Wessel, but stay tuned.
