The almost seven-year-old Abraxas Lounge in Miami Beach is closing its doors. According to Short Order, the bar will officially be calling it quits on New Year's Eve, but not forever. Owner Diego Escobar says he is looking to "re-open Abraxas sometime in mid-2014." Apparently, Escobar hasn't had a lease for the space "for the last year" and had been "making month-to-month rent payments, unsure of what the property owner was going to do." Recently, the owner sold the property to developers who plan to "build a boutique hotel at that location." For now, Escobar is scouting for new spots in the Downtown area.
