Though they haven't had an official opening party yet, the family-owned Barock did quietly open its doors a couple weeks back and is now open for business. The new Miami Beach restaurant is the product of father-daughter team Tommy Sjöö and Jessica Sjöö and the Pravda Group. For their first restaurant in the US, they've brought their experience from over 25 restaurants throughout Europe and created a menu based on their travels around the world.
Barock will be serving "smaller European portions" with menu items such as coconut-cured lobster ($11) and pan seared duck breast ($27), using all locally sourced ingredients. In addition to a dining area, Barock also features a lounge, lead by mixologist Nate Springer, who will also be using fresh, local herbs for craft cocktails like the Miami Mai Tai ($12) and the Aloha Lemonade ($11). Plans are for an official opening party to be held the third week of April.
