Word's out on the Design District's new eatery, The Cypress Room, and it's lookin' good. For this restaurant, Michael Schwartz took the best of Michael's Genuine Food & Drink and Harry's Pizzeria and put it all in one 1920's reminiscent restaurant with white linen tablecloths and dangling chandeliers. With Schwartz as the force behind the team, Roel Alcudia as executive chef and Hedy Goldsmith's tasty treats to end the meal, here's a round up of what folks are saying about The Cypress Room:

The fantastic news: One OpenTable reviewer says she had a "fantastic experience" and is especially fond of the "wow" frog legs and antelope dishes. She calls the staff and hostess "charming" and the décor "cool" with "masculine touches" and "dainty plating and Victorian wall paper". All in all, she "loved it". [OpenTable]

The good news: Over on Yelp, one diner says this was a "great fine dining" spot. He praises the décor and jazz music as well as the "professional service. Of the food, he says it was "outstanding", that appetizers such as the shrimp and beets "were amazing" and the antelope and local fish "were delicious". [Yelp]

The awkward news: Also on OpenTable, a commenter says though "the restaurant is well decorated, the space itself is just lousy" and it is "awkward on many fronts". However, though he finds the prices to be steep, he does say the "food was great". [Open Table]

The phenomenal news: Another OpenTable visitor exclaims, "what a phenomenal new restaurant" and notes it may be his new "favorite restaurant in Miami". He calls the eatery a definite "winner" on all levels and says the service is "impeccable". [OpenTable]

The extraordinary news: Another Yelper dubs The Cypress Room: "a culinary tour de force". He says the menu, though small, offers "something for everyone from the hardcore carnivore (cote de boeuf) to the vegetarian (ratatouille)". And, that they might have "designed the very best whiskey/bourbon/rye menu in South Florida". [Yelp]
