MIAMI - Get ready for the ultimate Frita showdown on August 14. Sef Gonzalez a.k.a Burger Beast will be hosting a competition in hopes of finding the Best Frita Cubana in the World (this already assuming –probably correctly- that it's here in Miami). Participating in this event are some pretty awesome Cuban burger joints ("Cuban Guys, El Mago de las Fritas, El Rey de las Fritas, Luis Galindo's Latin American & Sergio's") and on the panel of judges, some Miami favorites ("Univision's Ingrid Hoffman, Eating House's Giorgio Rapicavoli, Bread + Butter's Alberto Cabrera and CREaM's Randy Fisher"). For more info and tickets, head over this way. [BurgerBeast]
WYNWOOD – Lester's is adding some more foodstuffs to their menu, which is a good thing because after all that beer you may need a "hot pressed sandwich". Speaking of beer, the beer and wine menu will also be revitalized and extra light bites will be offered. And if wines and beers aren't your thing, they're also launching a line of housemade sodas. Wait for it though, this won't be until August. [EaterWire]
MIDTOWN – The Daily Melt is introducing weekly changing Chef Blackboard Special sandwiches (which come with an interesting variety of gourmet housemade pickles) July 29. A portion of the proceeds from sales will benefit No Kid Hungry. [EaterWire]
