Word is out on what's to open in the as of early August shuttered Café Sambal spot: a restaurant called La Mar (which can also be found in San Francisco and Chicago) by celeb chef Gaston Acurio. A press release says we can expect cuisine that "will celebrate the authentic and diverse flavors of Peruvian gastronomy, ranging from upscale novo-Andean fare to Asian-Peruvian fusion and traditional seafood cebiche".
On the architectural front, the space, designed by Arquitectonica and Nathan/Pereira Arquitectura, will offer a "sleek, modern setting" with 245 indoor/outdoor seats, three bars with "distinctive culinary experiences" and a "private table for up to 10 guests". La Mar by Gaston Acurio is slated to open December 2013. As far as Azul goes, the Mandarin Oriental's other eatery is not actually closing, just undergoing renovations.
