Word's out on the new waterfront restaurant opening up at the recently restored Newport Pier: It'll be a restaurant backed by the Newport Group in partnership with restaurateurs Paul Flanigan and Frank Zaffere called Beach Bar. According to a press release, the 200-seat, upscale-casual restaurant on the water will feature a diverse menu (all in the hands of "25-year sushi veteran", chef Mike Jin) of fresh, hand-selected sushi and sashimi, a fully stocked oyster bar and classic American favorites of seafood and steaks. Details like open-air seating, 180-degree views of the Atlantic under umbrella-shaded cabanas and blue lighting hint at a pretty handsome place, but no photos as of yet, so stay tuned. The new spot is set to launch early 2014.
