Self-dubbed "atelier for sexy nibbles" BLK Orchid is opening its doors in exactly five days, a few hours and some minutes from today, per the countdown displayed on their website. The new Townhouse Hotel (20th and Collins) restaurant (which takes over the former Bond St. space), is helmed by staff that has "serious creds," reports Miami.com. That means one Keiko Namakaji, a Hiroshima trained sushi chef and Michelin starred chef Michael Fulci (who most recently worked at La Maison Miami).
BLK's Facebook has been teasing with information since September. The page offers up several details like the fact that the restaurant will have "Miami's only sake lab," which will offer patrons a "colossal sake collection." This sake collection will, per Miami.com, be offered in a "quasi basement," speakeasy style. Also of note, a hashtag that let's us know there's more than Japanese here (see: #JapaneseFrenchFusion). And an explanation for the name: "The color Black represents 'Zen' in the Japanese culture while the Orchid flower represents life and immortality. Thus we give you BLK Orchid!"
