BRICKELL — According to Victoria Pesce Elliot, miami.com's longstanding food critic, Bistro BE is worth two-and-a-half stars and (mostly) worth a visit. The Belgian eatery is "welcoming and warm," writes VPE. She raves about what might be "the best thing on the menu," frites, mussels and snappy tiger shrimp. Other dishes like an onion soup with "nearly disintegrated" components and a thick, buttery crepe, didn't do much impress her. Still, the overall verdict is that "this ambitious spot makes a fine introduction to the beer, chocolate and mussels with fries that make Belgian food so endearing." [Miami.com]
SOUTH BEACH — In honor of National Red Wine and Pasta Month, Cavalli Restaurant and Lounge is hosting a four-course wine paired pasta dinner on Friday, October 17. The menu, priced at $85 per person, includes items like "Warm Taragna Polenta," (topped with duck ragu and Castelmagno cheese) and "Organic Pan roasted Filet Mignon roped with Foie Gras." [EaterWire]
FORT LAUDERDALE/FREEBIES — Word on the street and at Chima Brazilian Steakhouse is that October 14 is National Dessert Day. The restaurant is celebrating by offering all guests complimentary "pudim," a.k.a. Brazilian flan between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. [EaterWire]
SOUTH BEACH — In case you're scouting for Halloween festivities, consider the Delano and FDR. The night begins at Delano with an eclectic mix of music and an "All Gold Everything" poolside party and ends at FDR's haunted house. Plan to dress to impress for FDR's costume contest. [EaterWire]
