Jorgie Ramos To Re-Open B&S as 'Bad Ass Sandwich Shop'

Chef Ramos is forced to close Barley & Swine, but will re-open as Barley and Wich, a sandwich shop.

Looks like worse did come to worst yesterday when chef Jorgie Ramos had to officially shut down Barley & Swine. The chef writes in a Facebook post, "sad to announce to forced closing of B&S due to the negligence of building management, association board members, and contractors who have made it impossible for us to exist as the same restaurant we were just two weeks ago!" More on those condo construction problems he faced this way.

Fortunately for B&S fans, Ramos isn't going to just quit on his restaurant. Plans are for B&S to stop operating as it exists—maybe only temporarily—and to transition into Barley & Wich, a craft beer and craft sandwich bar with much shorter wait times, quick table service and no more smokey restaurant grilling.

"We all grew up with the saying 'when life gives you lemons make lemonade,' well we are now living by the saying 'when life gives you lemons, make a bad ass sandwich shop,'" the optimistic chef tells us. Once he's ready to launch roll out the subs, B&W will offer lunch and dinner service Tuesday through Sunday, as well as a weekly weekend brunch. But don't expect Publix, says Ramos, "Think the same slow braised locally sourced meats, veggies, and breads we do now but put together into one life changing bite!"
