Less Than Three Months After Opening, A.I.R. Closes Its Doors

Kris Wessel and co. opened Artist in Residence in August, but according to a rep, the bar's already closing.

A.I.R. or Artist in Residence, the brainchild of designer Jeff Vaughan, chef/restaurateur Kris Wessel and partner Roman Cherstvov is closing. For undisclosed reasons the bar, which has been open for less than three months, has apparently been sold and will, under new management, be turned into a new concept. Here's a statement from Wessel and Vaughan:

AIR is closing and will no longer be operated and directed by Kris Wessel, Designer Jeff Vaughan and the Oolite Restaurant group. The space will cease to be the Art & Music Club which has become a darling with the media, local breakout music acts, Indie music bands and local Progressive artists. The new management will develop a different concept. We send our love to all our musician, museum, artist, faithful Staff and citizen supporters.

No news on who this new management is, but we'll update with more info as we get it. Know something we don't? Your tips are our lifeline, send them this way.
