Apparently slurping down your coffee as you run into work isn't the proper way to have your morning joe. Who knew? But now you can learn the correct way to sip your coffee from the experts themselves at Juan Valdez Cafe.
The java outposts synomous with Colombian coffee now host private "cupping" sessions for small groups. Imagine wine tasting, but for coffee.
Led by head barista Edgardo Texidor, who has participated in the world barista championship, participants learn about the "sensorial experience of perceiving and recording the fragrance, aroma and taste of the beans," per the press release. Plus you get to munch on a bunch of traditional Colombian pastries like pan de bono and arepas.
Cupping classes are $16 a person, with a minimum of four people and a maximum of eight. They last roughly an hour and are available at both Juan Valdez Cafe Downtown Miami stores. Reservations are a must and can be made by calling 786-534-5582 or 786-534-5593.
