Miami-celeb chef Norman Van Aken has left his executive chef position at Tuyo and stepped down from his role as director of restaurants at Miami Dade College's Culinary Institute. "I have had a wonderful experience at MDC and Tuyo and will miss my colleagues and, especially, the students," said Van Aken, adding, "My experiences have encouraged me to blaze new culinary trails." No news yet on exactly what those will be, but Van Aken has told Eater he's embarking on a variety of new journeys -for now he's spreading the word on his new book, No Experience Necessary, on shows like Jimmy Kimmel (Eater National has some clips this way). Tuyo hasn't yet reported who will replace Van Aken, but the restaurant will remain open.
