The Downstairs at Hotel Astor Debuts March 14

Hotel Astor is making a huge comeback with its latest addition, The Downstairs at Hotel Astor. Astor's brought in celebrated chef Chad Ford to create an American dining experience with a European flair and whip up dishes like pear and cheese tortoloni and poutine short rib tater tots. Nothing is complete without beer, so The Downstairs will make sure to have some local and nationally-sourced brews including concoctions from Funky Buddha and Cigar City. The subterranean restaurant/bar/lounge designed by Orson Design Group features a 75-seat dining space with linen banquette seating, a lounge (which accommodates more than 80), a polished leather bar top, whitewashed wood, communal tables, bookshelves and bucket seats.

Guests are encouraged to linger downstairs after dinner since The Downstairs will have DJs (picked by Winter Music Conference co-founder Billy Kelly) spinning late into the night, but there is something for those who want an open-air experience, the upstairs Astor Terrace with a tea-lit garden, cushions and a bar. It opens Friday, March 14.
