Giorgio Rapicavoli and Partner Alex Casanova's new spot, Taperia Raca, opened less than a month ago, but already seems to be doing pretty well for itself. Fellow blogger Burger Beast calls a dish "mesmerizing," while Yelpers rave about items like the manchego croquetas and patatas contentas. But is Taperia Raca as raved about as Rapicavoli's first venture, Eating House, initially was? Probably not, though people do seem to really like it. Here's what they had to say:
The It's That Good News: Fellow blogger Burger Beast pours some good lovin' on Taperia Raca via twitter. He tweets/insagrams a photo of "The mesmerizing Tortilla Española from Taperia Raca." Over on his blog, the enthused Burger Beast writes, "On the food side, everything was good to excellent but the stand outs had to be the Pan con Tomate, Manchego Croquetas, the Burger and those mother f'in Patatas Bravas." [Twitter/Burger Beast]
The Underwhelming News: One yelper was quite unmoved by her visit to the new restaurant. She writes: "We had lunch at Taperia Raca today, and one word comes to mind, ehhh." "Bacon wrapped apricots were good, but nothing special," she explains. The chicken empanadas were "mediocre at best" and the gazpacho "tasted of only vinegar." [Yelp]
The Good News: In an uber photo-driven post after a first visit to Taperia Raca, The Food-E writes, " We recently checked out their first brunch service and cannot wait to come back for dinner." Looks like brunch fared well, according to these guys. [TheFood-E]
The Must Try News: Another yelper seems super excited about Taperia Raca. Her concise review reads as follows: "best tapas in town! delicious sangria! amazing service! cool vibe! MUST TRY - gazpacho, clams, manchego croquetas, tartare, patatas contentas :) nutella rice pudding!!" [Yelp]
