Prohibition, Cocktails and Small Plates in Midtown

A new restaurant and lounge called Prohibition is opening in Midtown, according to Short Order. Taking over George's Kitchen & Loft space, which has apparently shuttered, Prohibition "will have a Chicago speakeasy vibe, with servers dressed in newsboy caps and ties, à la 1930s," writes the blog. The space, now owned by Shawn Shahnazi (owner of Karma and Envy), looks nearly ready to open, but apparently some final construction is still going on before the new restaurant officially launches sometime in April. There will, of course, be an emphasis on cocktails, which will be classic, prohibition-themed and made with fresh ingredients. The menu will be "an eclectic mix of favorites with an emphasis on small plates for sharing" and will include items like steak frites, chorizo croquettes and lobster truffle mac and cheese. Head over this way for more details.
