Check Out Bistro BE Before it Opens On Friday

This Friday, July 18, marks the grand opening of Bistro BE, the Belgian restaurant looking to bring some European flavors to the Brickell food scene.

The restaurant is the mastermind from two Belgian born owners Emmanuel Verschueren and Tim Michels who wanted to bring their native cuisine to Miami. Running the kitchen is another native Belgian, Frederik Appelt, an acclaimed chef well-known in Belgium for his work at one of Grote Markt's most historic restaurants, 'tZwart Schaap.

The restaurant is housed in the former Boxpark space, and features classic Belgian dishes like mussels, homemade frites and waffles, along with more contemporary dishes like rabbit, bratwurst and beef stew.

But as Michels explains to us, the real star of the Bistro BE menu is the beer. More than 50 different varieties will be available by bottle and another eight on tap. All of which will rotate seasonally.

"Our main goal is for people from Miami to appreciate Belgian beers," Michels notes. "Which is not that difficult because they are the best in the world."
