Late last week, Kendall got a new ice cream parlor named Sub Zero Ice Cream & Yogurt. The new shop, which was featured on Shark Tank, was originally slated for an August 7 opening, but due to required inspections didn't end up launching until August 13. Now, they'll be offering ice creams, smoothies, milkshakes and even waffles daily (from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday) at their 9065 SW 107th Ave. location. But the real draw is the way they freeze their ice cream on the spot. Using liquid nitrogen, the team is able to freeze whatever combo of flavors (at no extra charge) and mix ins you choose in under a minute and, presto, out comes "the creamiest ice cream on the planet," according to their Facebook.
Their flavors change monthly and they always have a "Local Specials" menu unique to whatever area the store is located in, but regular flavors include dulce de leche, toasted coconut, citric-acid, eggnog and a ton more. As for what you can mix in to your concoction, which can also be as as frozen or as little frozen as you like it (courtesy the "choose your chill factor" option), think fruits, candy bars and chocolate.
