Argentina's popular Freddo is opening its U.S. flagship store on Lincoln Road sometime this September or October. The shop, which currently has locations in six South American countries and the U.K. (and has been around in Argentina for over 45 years) serves up something called "helado," which a press release describes as an "ice cream-gelato hybrid." The release also notes that "Freddo's helados are completely free of trans fats, and devoid of artificial flavorings, colorants, preservatives or added vegetable fats," and they are made in and shipped over from South America to ensure quality control. Once the store opens they'll have thirty flavors to choose from including dulce de leche, cream and sorbet. They'll also offer "Freddinos," which are helados blended with coffee, "TriFreddos," three layers of helado with three toppings, smoothies and sundaes. Rumor has it the shop is opening more that one South Florida location, so stay tuned.
